本篇文章总共只使用过两句复杂句：

Then people had buses, trains and ships, which could shorten the time of the long-distance trip.Now we have not only more private cars, but also planes and high-speed rails.

从句主要是高中内容，但是本句运用的是较为基本的定语从句，犯错的概率较小。

not only but also句型是初中熟练运用的，而且作者还巧妙地避开了倒装，在展示能力的同时又降低犯错的风险。

反例如下：

Among the vicissitudes incident to life no event could have filled me with greater anxieties than that of which the notification was transmitted by your order, and received on the 14th day of the present month.

以上是华盛顿就职演说的第一段，确实文采飞扬，但对于初中学生和改卷老师而言，都是煎熬。

并不是所有初中学生都能完全掌握各种语法，写出“套娃”句，而为了炫耀文采而故意卖弄的结局只是自作聪明。

改卷老师一般是初中的教师，要求他们在数十秒内对你的作文做长难句分析根本不现实，最后很有可能一个眼花以病句论处。

更为重要的一点是，许多地方中考作文的评分是扣分制，也就是说，在完成任务且进入高档的前提下，老师会倾向于寻找作文中的错误点进行扣分。此时放弃花里胡哨的写作风格，巧妙地在展示能力的同时降低风险，才更为合理。
