Step 1 Warm-up
To talk about DIY with students to arise their interest. If possible, you may ask someone to give some details in Chinese.
Show them some pictures and introduce DIY in English.
Step 2 Lead-in
1. 与学生交流,引入本单元话题:There is something wrong with my computer, I’m going to fix it today. I’m going to do some IDY work. Do you know what DIY stands for? 板书stand for让学生根据语境猜测其含义。
引导学生回答:DIY stands for “d0-it-yourself”
2. 接着教师说:When you do DIY work, you do your things yourself.
问学生:Can you do any DIY work? What can you do?
鼓励学生根据实际情况回答:I can make kites/repair my bicycle/paint the shelf....
Step 3 Listening
1.呈现Eddie和Hobo的图片,并说:Look at these pictures, please. Hobo has some work to do today. Do you think Eddie will help him?
引导学生猜测结果:No, Eddie won’t help him.
2. Ask students to listen to the dialogue between Eddie and Hobo. Please answer some questions after listening.
播放录音,学生回答下列问题:
(1)What’s Hobo going to do? (He’s going to build his new house.)
(2)What should Hobo do first? ( He should read the instructions first.)
(3)What does Hobo probably need? (He probably needs some tools)
Step 4 Presentation
Show them some tools and introduce the words.
Finish the exercise in the text book and check answers.
Show a new house of Hobo and encourage them to answer the questions after listening.
Study and finish the dialogue. Read or recite them in class.
Ask the students to have a discussion about the dialogue and retell it.
Language points.
Listen to a dialogue again and answer the three questions.
Let the students read and give some explanations.
Make a similar dialogue and act it out.
Step 5 Conclusion
Do some C-E translation to check their understanding.
Step 6 Homework
Review what have learnt in class.
Show one of your works of DIY in your group and try to introduce it to your classmate in English next period.
