Our eating habits(习惯) are very important for good health and a strong body. There are times when most of us would rather eat sweets and ice-cream than meat and rice. Sweets and ice-cream are not bad if we eat them at the end of a meal. If we eat them before a meal, they may take away our appetite(食欲). It is important for us to eat our meals at the same time each day. When we feel hungry, it is a sign that our body needs food. When we feel angry or excited, we may not want to eat. A long time ago, in England, some judges(法官) used to decide whether a man was telling the truth by giving him some dry bread. If the man could not eat the bread, it showed that he was telling lies. Although this seems very strange and rather foolish, it is indeed a very good way of finding out the fact. A man who is worrying about something has difficulty in eating anything dry. Because he is worrying, he loses his appetite and does not want to eat.

61. We must have good eating habits because ____.

A. we want to eat more B. we want to enjoy our meals

C. we want to be healthy and strong D.we want to have a good appetite.

62. It is good to eat sweets and ice-cream ____.

A. when we are hungry . B. when we want to C. after the meal D. before the meal

63. We'd better have our meals ____.

A. at the same time each day B. when our work is over

C. when the meal is still hot D. when every one of the family is home

64. According to the judges in England, if a man tells a lie, he____.

A. eats dry bread easily B. eats dry bread with difficulty

C. eats a lot of dry bread D. drinks milk with difficulty

65. A man who is angry ____.

A. has a better appetite B. likes to tell lies

C. likes to eat ice-cream D. has a poor appetite

C

In my long years of teaching, I often ask my student to read the texts until they can recite(背诵) them, and I tell them that recitation is an important part of their homework. However, some of my students are tired of doing so, thinking that it is both hard and useless. They argue that it takes a long time to recite a text from memory and text itself never appears in a test paper.

In my opinion, it naturally takes time to recite a text, but it is worth doing so. When you are able to recite a text, you are sure to be familiar with the words and expressions. When you need them in reading or writing or doing exercises, they will come to your mind quickly, and so you will give quick response to all kinds of language situation. How can we say that it is useless?

Besides, many students complain that they soon forget what they were once able to recite. This is true, but you don’t need to worry. While you are reading and forgetting the texts, your language level is being raised. Sure you don’t remember your Chinese texts that you once read in the primary school, but now you are able to read novels and newspaper. So, recitation of the texts will help you improve your language ability.

66. The writer often asks his students to recite the texts,_______.

A. But they don’t like to do so.

B. And they are eager to do so

C. But they wrote a letter to the Department of Education reporting the thing.

D. But they do more exercises instead of reciting the texts.

67. What do the students think about the teacher’s advice?_______.

A. The English teacher tries his best to help them with English.

B. The English teacher is very kind to them.

C. The English teacher asks them to do something useless.

D. The English teacher should let them study on their own.

68. According to the text, which of the following is correct?_____.

A. The teacher thinks the students are too naughty to learn English well.

B. The students think they spend a lot of time in reciting the texts and get nothing.

C. The students say that they often forget the words.

D. The students take no interest in English.

69. When the students are against his suggestion, the writer_______.

A. often criticizes them

B. patiently explains to them why they should recite the texts

C. wants to give up his idea

D. is afraid that he is criticized by the headmaster.

70. Why does the writer suggest that the students recite the text?_____.

A. Reciting the texts can improve the ability of applying English.

B. Reciting the texts is the best way of learning English.

C. The students should remember all the texts that the teacher has taught them.

Reciting the texts can greatly improve the classroom teaching

D

One day in my class,Maria shared her feelings about money,“Money worries me.I think I want to live without money because I hate it.I HATE MONEY.”We were all touched by Maria's words as they reminded us of the spiritual burdens that money managing can bring to us.After class I offered to help Maria deal with her financial problems. She hesitated to accept my offer, and I could see from the expression on her face that she was afraid of what it might involve.I quickly promised her that I wouldn't make her do more than she was able to.I told her frankly that I didn't enjoy managing my money any more than she did hers and wouldn't burden her with guilt, judgments,or impossible tasks. All I would ask her to do was to let me help her look at her fears and try to make some sense of them.

Maria still resisted my offer, and I can remember the excuses she gave me as they were the repeated complaints I had heard from so many people.“I'll never understand money,”she said.“My facts are meaningless.”“I don't deserve to have money.”“I never have enough.”“I have too little to manage.”“My financial position isn't worth looking at.”and the most devastating one of all,“I just can't do it.”

Going home that day,I couldn't get Maria out of my mind:her attitude conveyed the same negativity and fear that I believed annoyed many people.I was sure it was this attitude that prevented people from managing their money effectively. My counseling(咨询)has taught me that these anxieties are inseparably connected to our selfdoubts and fear for survival. Many of us are terrified of handling our money because we don't believe we can do it well, and to do it wrong would put our very existence at risk.

On a deeper level we know that money is not the source of life, but sense of worth drives us to act as if it were.It locks us up in selfdoubts and prevents us from tapping into the true source of our management power, our spirit.

71.The underlined word“devastating”in Paragraph 2 probably means ________.

A.convincing B.interesting C.shocking D.valuable

72.Maria's words moved the author and others because they were ________.

A.in the same financial trouble B.in the same financial condition

C.of the same family background D.of the same feeling over the issue

73.As for money managing, the author intended to tell Maria how to ________.

A.overcome her fears B.make wise decisions

C.avoid making mistakes D.learn the necessary skills

74.Maria wouldn't take the author's offer of help for fear of________.

A.being forced to share her money with others

B.having to do something beyond her reach

C.being found guilty of making impossible errors

D.showing her judgment about money

75.According to the author, people's anxieties about managing money result from their understanding of money as the only source of ________.

A.life B.values C.spirit D.power

第四部分:写作(共两节,满分35分)

第一节:阅读表达(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分)

阅读下面短文,并根据短文后的要求回答问题(请注意问题后的字数要求)。

[1] Teenagers who spend hours in front of the television may have a poorer diet, a new study shows. It is not clear, researchers say, whether television itself is the reason, but it is possible that things like snacking in front of the TV or seeing ads for junk food influence young people’s diets.

[2] The study included nearly 1,400 high school students. It showed that those who watched TV for five hours or more every day had less healthy diets than other students five years later. As a group, they ate fewer fruits and vegetables, but ate more fast food, snack products and fried foods.

[3] “We’re not able to tell why,” lead researcher Dr. Daheia J. Barr-Anderson said. “But we have some speculations(推测).” People who spend a lot of time in front of the TV, especially teenagers, may have more snack. It may influence their long-term diet quality. It’s also possible that TV ads for fast food, sweets and snacks make teenagers eat more of those foods. TV time might also replace exercise time for some kids.

[4] The researchers found a clear relationship between TV time during high school and diet quality of the young. The heaviest TV viewers five years later, and those who’d watched fewer than two hours every day had the most fruits and vegetables.

[5] According to Barr-Anderson, the findings support experts’ advice that children should watch no more than two hours of television every day. “Parents should cut the TV time.” Barr-Anderson said. She advised that parents set a good example by eating right, being physically active and controlling their own TV time.
