W: Do you know where Tom is, Sam?

M: Sorry, I don’t know.

W: Oh, my God!

M: What’s the matter?

W: He is supposed to be at the meeting a quarter later. But I can’t find him anywhere.

M: Oh, I remember something. John told me that Tom went out for lunch at about a quarter to 2 and would not come back until 3:30.

W: Then he will be late for the meeting.

M: What’s the time now?

W: 3:00.

M: Don’t worry. I’ll call him.

M: Hi, Susan. I would like to take a train from Detroit to Houston this Autumn. Do you know if there is a nonstop train?

W: I’m afraid not. You’ll have to change trains in Chicago as well as in San Antonio, Texas.

M: When does the train to Chicago leave?

W: Well, you would leave Detroit at about 7:00 a.m., arrive in Chicago around noon, change trains there and leave at 1:45 p.m. Then you would go to San Antonio, Texas, where there is another train from San Antonio to Houston.

M: Do you know how much the ticket costs?

W: I’m not sure. You can check it on the Internet.

M: Thanks a lot. I’ll check it later.

W: You’re welcome. But may I ask why you would rather take a train instead of going by air?

M: Because I can see the countryside as much as possible as I go across US A.

W: But the plane is faster and more comfortable.

M: Well, you know, I’m not in a hurry.

W: I’m looking for a pair of shoes for my grandson. But I don’t know what size he wears.

M: It doesn’t matter. I’ll help you. Can you tell me how old he is?

W: He’s eight, but I’m afraid you can’t help me, because he is taller than other boys as old as he.

M: That’s easy. You can take size 9 and let him try on. Should they not fit him well, just bring the shoes here, and I’ll change a pair for you.

W: That’s great. It’s so kind of you to think so much of me.

M: Well, what color do you want?

W: Any color will do. Any color is right for a child.

M: How about this pair? They look nice.

W: Yes, you are right. I’ll take them. How much do they cost?

M: Thirty-five dollars.

W: Here is a one-hundred note.

M: Here is your change.
