True winners don't have to come in first

ISN''T it cool to surf in summer? You catch a wave and enjoy the ride with skill and grace (优雅). Surfing is not only our favorite pastime, though. A group of penguins enjoy the sport as much as we do. And they display their passion (热情) and skills in the new animated film Surf''s Up (《冲浪企鹅》), which comes out on June 6, in the US.

Does the idea of penguins being good surfers sound funny? Teenage penguin Cody Maverick''s answer is "NO".

Cody lives in Antarctica (南极洲) and is crazy about the sport. Cody''s idol is Big Z, a legendary (传奇的) penguin surfing king.

Cody has a bully (爱欺负人) for a brother and a mother who is not supportive. He really wants to get away. Cody believes that winning will bring him the admiration and respect he desires. He''s given the chance to escape when Mikey Abromowitz, a talent scout (星探), comes to Antarctica to look for talented penguins for a surfing competition on an island named Pen Gu.

Cody''s really excited, but, during his audition (表演), there are no waves and he chokes. But he knows he can''t give up. He chases after Mikey''s whale, riding the waves created by its departure (启程). And he begs until Mikey agrees to take him to Pen Gu.

There Cody meets Lani, the island''s beautiful lifeguard, as well as his main rival (对手), the surfing champion Evans. The cocky Evans shows no respect for Big Z, which makes Cody angry. He challenges Evans to a surfing match, only to suffer a terrible defeat.

Lani takes Cody to the island doctor. As they spend time together, Cody realizes that this doctor is really Big Z himself. When he learns this, Cody begs the now out-of-shape legend to train him and make him a better surfer.

Cody begins to find his own way. He improves his skills and discovers that a true winner isn''t always the one who comes in first.
