高一年级英语下册说课稿《The Olympic Games》

Questions:

(1)    For what purpose were the ancient Greek Olympics held every four years?

(2)    What events did the ancient Greek Olympics have?

(3)    What did the Frenchman wish to renew?

(4)    According to the Frenchman, what would the Olympic Games bring about?

(5)    Did the Frenchman succeed in renewing the Olympics?

Five minutes later, check the answers with the whole class. From this students can get more details about the Olympic Games. This step holds the most important position of the whole lesson, for it gains the aim of training the students’ reading ability to some content. It referred that students are required to read the passage aloud to ensure the correct pronunciation of some difficult words and the usage of new phrase.

Step 4 Language Points

Pick out some difficult sentences and phrases to explain. Make them understand the passage better and lay a solid basis for applying language points.

Step 5 Role Play and Discussion

Students work in pairs, one as a reporter , the other as an official working in a sports department. They may make use of the questions in Step Two and Three and some key words given by the teacher.

This is to help the students to review and enforce what they have required and encourage them to exploit it in authentic environment to develop their communicative ability. So the teacher as audience, should give more compliments and praise rather than criticism, to cultivate the students’ confident and protect students’ learning enthusiasm.

Step 6 Consolidation and Learning Tips

1.      Exercise2,3 on Page 253 and 254

2.      Write a passage on Beijing Olympic Games, and employ the Internet if necessary.

The first part is to strengthen the language points. The second one is to emphasize the students’ writing sills. Give some tips on how to choose a cling when writing a passage.
