I. Teaching objectives:
1. New words: biggest, smallest, oldest, youngest, fastest, slowest, tallest, shortest.
2. New sentences: who’s the fastest? Which is the biggest? What’s the smallest animal in your book? What’s the biggest animal in the world?
3. Function: 1)。 Master the four skill words and drills.
2)。 Talking about the class and family with the adjectives.
II. Teaching key points: 1. Learn the eight new words. 2. To understand: Which is the……Who’s the ……____be the ___ in_____.
III. Teaching difficult points:
What’s the smallest animal in your book? What’s the biggest animal in the world?
IV. Teaching strategy:
1.Teaching methods: the direct method, the audio-visual method, the task-based method.
2.Teaching aids: CAI, objects, flashcards, magic stick and recorder.
V. Teaching procedure:
Step I: Warm up
1.Revise the words: tall taller / short shorter/ fast faster/slow slower……with CAI.
T: I’m very glad to see you! Hello? What’s your name?
S1: I’m Kate.
T: The whole class. Who’s taller, Miss Li or Kate?Ss: Miss Li.
T: Yes! I’m taller than you! Now I want to check your eyes, let’s read the words quickly.
Ss: big, bigger, small……
头脑风暴活动,唤起学生对主题已输入内容的回忆,发展学生的思维,锻炼学生的语言组织和表达能力,复习本主题所学和前所学有关的形容词,为后续学习作铺垫。
2.Talk about the words with the magic stick.
T: look! I have a magic stick. I’m a magician. If I point to you, you want do the action. Big-bigger.
S2:(do the action)
T: Now, who want to be the magician?
第一环节课件闪现单词考了学生的反应力和单词的认读能力,比直接出现单词更有挑战性,学生都争取第一个说出单词,学生的积极性随之调动了。第二环节更是学生的至爱:魔术棒的出现,带有神秘的色彩,学生都希望老师的魔术棒能指向自己,成为幸运儿,从而在快乐中复习了所学的形容词及其比较级。
Step 2 presentation
1. Tell the story for the first time.
T : You all did a good job, I can tell you a story.
Look! They’re having a match of running. Xi Yangyang , Fei Yangyang and Nuan Yangyang are coming! Do you know Nuan Yangyang is young. Fei Yangyang is younger. Xi Yangyang is the youngest. Oh! Nuan Yangyang is fast. Fei Yangyang is faster. Xi Yangyang is the fastest. Lan Yangyang, Mei Yangyang and Man Yangyang are coming over there! Lan Yangyang is slow. Mei Yangyang is slower. Man Yangyang is the slowest. Oh! I see. Man Yangyang is the oldest in the team. 利用多媒体课件,创设学习语言的情境,调动学生的积极性。从家喻户晓的“喜羊羊与灰太狼”的故事的情境中,让学生感知理解所学语言的真正含义,体现语言的真实性和交际性。按照词—〉问句—〉答句—〉对话,从简到繁的递进顺序,循序渐进的练习,符合学生的认知规律。重点知识用红色的文字表示,醒目鲜明。故事的魅力是难以想象的,从整体到部分,再由部分回过到整体,这是学生认知的规律,你找准这把钥匙,成功有望!

5.Let’s watch for the second time, you want to find out the adjectives in the story.
让学生有目的地去听,去理解,不断提高英语理解能力。只有目的明确,学生才会有所收获。
6.出示评价手段。
T: I have four horses, you can run fast to be the winner.
整节课的评价仍然是以“喜羊羊与灰太狼”为主线,选出最fastest的一组,主线明确。
3.Present the new words according to the story.
T: (show the word cards) big-
Ss: bigger.
T: Biggest, est /ist/. /g/+/ist/=/gist/.
Ss: Biggest, est /ist/. /g/+/ist/=/gist/.
T: Look! The yellow balloon is the biggest.
T: Which is the opposite of big?
Ss: Small.
T: Yes. Small, smaller. Look the ‘est’ how to read?
Ss: /ist/
T: /l/ + /ist/. Who can?
S3: /list/
Ss: smallest
T: (show the word cards) young-younger
S4: Youngest.
T: Very good! Youngest. Who is the youngest?
S5: Xi Yangyang is the youngest. T: fast-faster
Ss: Fastest.
T: Who can ask a question?
S6:Who’s the fastest?
T: Wonderful! Who can answer?
其它单词也是从故事中抽取出来,在具体的语境中学习单词,从整体到部分,再从部分到整体。
以旧带新,步步深入,在故事中学习,在学习中激趣,在激趣中扩展,充分发挥学生的主体性。
4. Read out the new words with the word cards, let the students find the rules about the superlative adjective.
T: let’s read the words together.
通过帮助学生进行总结归纳,内化知识,形成技巧。
1、The students make the questions according to the story, ask and answer in groups.
T: Try to make the questions to ask others.
Ss: Who’s the oldest? Who’s the slowest? Who’s the fastest? Who’s the……
在新授单词时,词不离句,让学生自主根据故事内容提出问题问其他小组成员,从而让学生既掌握了答句也掌握了问句,同时也操练了新单词,在问答的过程发现了形容词最高级的构词构句方法,真是一举三得。
Step3 practice
1.Chant:形容词最高级前面加个est ,后面别忘了the or the 。
T: let’s chant!
帮助学生进行总结归纳,内化知识,形成技巧。
2.Do the listening exercises.
T: I want to check your listening! Let’ check the answers.
3.Sing a song. Let the students find the superlative adjective in the song.
T: let’s sing the song. Before it circle the superlative adjective in the song.
Ss: Clap the hands and sing after the tape.通过歌谣,既活跃了课堂气氛,又有效地复习了形容词最高级,对刚教学内容作小结。使学生更快地集中精神,调动学生的积极性,让学生对本课的内容有更深的认识,为后面的学习作铺垫。
