(B)
One midnight, a little girl woke up to get water. She got up and down her bed by herself, walked to the bedroom door and opened it. She looked outside and walked back, because it was so dark in the hall that she was very afraid.
Her mother said, “Don’t be afraid, dear. Take courage(勇气)!”
“What’s courage?” she asked, running to her mother’s bed.
“Courage is the brave breath,” her mother answered.
“Mum, do you have courage?”
“Certainly.”
The girl held out her little hands, saying, “Mum, blow some of your breath of courage to me.”
After her mother blew out two mouthfuls of breath into her little cold hands, the little girl clenched her fists(握拳) nervously, afraid that the “breath of courage” would run away. Then with her fists clenched, she walked out of the bedroom towards the bathroom with nothing to fear(害怕).
Her mother said to herself, “It will be nice if someone can blow some kind of ‘breath’ to me. Then I can hold it in my hands too when I feel terrified (害怕的)or lost.”
In fact, mostly, what we are terrified of is nothing but the fear in our mind. Who we should defeat is nobody but ourselves.

It’s only $79.99! How many times have you heard those words on TV or read them in a newspaper ad ? The word “only” is supposed to make you think that this is a great price for the product.
But think about this. How long does it take you to earn $79.99? What do you have to do to get that money? The little thing that’s only $79.99 is worth (价值) almost 12 hours of your work! And if you are making less than this, how long will it take to earn that much money?
So as you stand in a store, telling yourself that you have to buy something, think about how long you must work to earn the money to pay for it. Is that $85 T-shirt really worth the time to earn $85? You could probably find a similar shirt at another store for under $35, right?
Even if your parents are still buying your clothes, someone has to work for the money. If you spend money on one thing, you don’t have money to spend on anything else. So if you spend $85 on those jeans, you cannot put it in the bank, and you cannot go snowboarding(单板滑雪)or to the movies with friends because you don’t have the money to go.
63. Saying that it’s “only $ 79.99” may make you think that it ________.
A. is expensive B. is important C. is cheap D. cannot be accepted
64. If you earn $10 an hour, how long must you work to buy an $85 T-shirt?
A. More than 8 hours. B. More than 12 hours.
C. Less than 8 hours. D. Less than 7 hours.
65. From the passage we know that ________.
A. the T-shirt isn’t worth buying
B. the T-shirt is too expensive
C. we shouldn’t believe the newspaper ad
D. before we buy something, we should think about what it is really worth

Mom and dad are two of the most important people in your life. You probably see at least one of them every day. And, they're likely to influence you more than anyone else you will meet in your lifetime. So your mom loves to read, you just might grow up carrying a book wherever you go, just like she does.
But parents do a lot more than just passing on their hobbies. Moms and dads care for their kids from the minute they were born. They are the people we should respect and love best. It's very important to stay close, get along, and build a strong relationship with your parents. But not every child knows how to do this. Here are some ways to help you:
Spend time together. Instead of playing game or watching T'V, ask your mom and dad to play with you. Go outside together, or read a book loudly.
Be kind. Little things might means a lot to your mum or dad. You can brighten a parent's day with a hug, a card, or a joke. It's also lovely when a kid cleans up his or her room without being asked. And if you try not to fight with your brothers or sisters. your parents might be very happy!
Do your best at whatever you do. You don't have to be perfect, but when you do your best, you make your parents proud. It makes them happy to see how you're turning into a great kid. Why? Because it lets them know you're doing a good job.
