Period 1 Comic strip .Vocabulary and Reading

Teaching Aims :

1. Know the spelling of some words and usage of some phrases

2.Grasp the main idea of Reading and use the information to talk to others about one’s problems and how to deal with them

3. Know the different meanings of ‘get’

Teaching procedures:

I.Look at this comic. You know that Eddie is getting fat. Here “get” means “become”. What other meanings does “get” have?

选用所给词组的适当形式填空

Perhaps you can choose one hobby to do each day, or just focus on painting.
Don’t give up your hobby but don’t forget about your family, either.
Pay no attention to those students who laugh at you and be proud of your school work.

How can we give our suggestions/ advice?

We can use imperatives, “Perhaps you should/can…”, “Why don’t you…?”, “Why not…?”, “What/ How about…?”, “It’s a good idea to…”

You know, Amy has some problems, too. What are they?

1.Get a lot of homework from her teacher, have no time for her hobbies.

2.A lot of traffic on her way home, get home late.

3.Don’t have much time to revise for exams, sometimes get low marks and get sad.
