参考范文:

Dear Professor ,

Do you still remember the old teacheing building located in the south of our mother school ? Recently we have had a discussion about whether it should be pulled down or kept .Different opinions are as follows .

Built around 50 years ago , it has served as a teaching building ever since .But with years going by , it is not in harmony with its surrounding modern buildings . As a result , some of the teachers and students surveyed suggest that the temple be pulled down to give way to a modern one .

However , most people hold the view that the temple witnesses the rise and fall of our school and that it can bring back good memories to them upon seeing it .So , instead of pulling it down , it can be used as a place to display the school history after being repaired and decorated .

Dear Professor , what’s your opinion about the fate of the building ? It’s your opinion that we appreciate a lot .

Looking forward to your reply.

Yours faithfully,

Li Hua

W: What time is it by your watch, please?

M: It’s half past seven. The film will start in fifteen minutes. Hurry up!

Text 2

M: It’s said that there are only a few seats left at the concert tonight.

W: Really? I was under the impression that the tickets had sold out a long time ago.

Text 3

M: Would you mind my opening the window? I need some fresh air.

W: I’m afraid I need to keep it quiet here.

M: OK, it’s up to you.

Text 4

W: Will you take part in the football match Saturday?

M: That’s the day after tomorrow? I’m afraid not. I have to set aside three days to prepare for the Math exam next week.

Text 5

W: How’s your new job?

M: It’s quite difficult, and I have to concentrate very hard, but I’m enjoying meeting so many famous people and traveling all over the world.

W: I know what you mean.

M: It’s great to do something so satisfying and interesting.

Text 6

M: How do you like this brown dress? It looks great on you.

W: I think it’s a bit too heavy. Since it’s getting warmer at this time of year, I want something light. What other kinds of material do you have?

M: We have silk and cotton dresses. A cotton dress is suitable in spring. We have many different kinds. What colour would you like? I think yellow or green would be good choices for you.

W: I would like the white one.

Text 7

M: Do you think our manager is going to have a new factory built?

W: I simply don’t know. He hasn’t spoken to me about it.

M: Do you think it possible that it will happen?

W: Of course. We really need a new factory now. But there is a problem with it.

M: Does it lack funds or is it short of hands?

W: Neither. It’s finding land for the factory. Some farmers don’t want people to build things on good farmland.

M: I think the manager will persuade the government to let him build the new factory.

W: Oh, it’s hard to say. The government should also consider the farmers’ opinions. Let’s wait and see.

Text 8

M: What do you like to do in your spare time?

W: I like to be with people. Last weekend I went to a Japanese friend’s place. What about you?

M: I like spending time in my room, reading, writing and thinking.

W: Oh, I just remembered something important. You said you like writing, right? Could you write an article about what you saw and heard in London? You can write whatever you like.

M: You really want to read my article?

W: Not me, an editor of a magazine wants to read it.

M: Who is the editor?

W: My father. He recently discovered that you just got back from studying English in England. He would like to hear your views on British culture.

M: Thank you and your father. I will try my best. But, you know, my English is poor …

W: Don’t worry. My father will help you correct it.

Text 9

W: Good morning, Cambridge Theatre. Can I help you?

M: Good morning. Have you got tickets for the pop concert on Saturday night?

W: Certainly, Sir.

M: What time does the concert start?

W: At 3 pm. How many tickets would you like?

M: It will be for my wife and I, and our twin daughters. By the way, we want seats in the middle.

W: No problem. The concert ends at half past ten. Would you please tell me your name and telephone number?

M: Peter Brown. My telephone number is 7866254.

W: OK, I’ve got it.

M: How much will that cost?

W: Seventy-two dollars altogether, Sir. And the children are half price.

M: Good. I would like the tickets to be sent to my house this evening or tomorrow morning.

W: I’m afraid this evening is too soon. You will get them tomorrow.

Spring is the perfect time to take a tour of London — the weather isn’t too hot or cold, and the days are getting longer. You can go to London’s parks and gardens, meet some new animal arrivals and celebrate special events, including Easter and St Patrick’s Day. Take an umbrella with you even if the weather looks nice — you never know when an April shower might occur.

Kew Gardens is beautiful at any time of year, but don’t miss it in the spring months. There’s plenty for kids to do, including nature trails. If it does start to rain, you can duck into one of Kew’s glasshouses.

The London Wetland Centre will be welcoming a new group of ducks. Get closer with tours and other special spring events. For a more active day out, take a boat out on the lake in Hyde Park.

Visit one of London’s city farms where you can meet newborn lambs, chicks and lots more animals. For some riverside wildlife, walk the Thames Path – it’s the best time of year for nature-spotting.

If your feet are getting a bit tired, why not hop onto a bus tour? The Original London Sightseeing Tour offers hop-on hop-off tours in a traditional red open-top bus.
