W: Excited and nervous. You know I must work on some basic conversational skills.
M: How much French can you understand?
W: Only a little now. But I’ll attend a special language class next month.
M: I wish I were as clever as you are in foreign languages. I would love to study abroad.
W: Then why don’t you? The school has a lot of programs that don’t require the mastery of a foreign language. You just have to be a kind of person who is quick to learn new things and can get used to a new environment fast.
M: I thought all programs required one to know a foreign language. Thank you for letting me know this.
Text 10
M: In the past, when people had problems, they went to their families or friends to get advice. Today, it is possible to get advice from radio programs, TV programs and telephone hot lines, too.
A hot line is a telephone line. Through this line, you can get advice. And it is a very direct way for you, to get in touch with advisers. When you telephone the adviser to get some advice, you need not say your name or telephone number. So it is quite anonymous. And most of the hot lines are usually free. You do not have to pay for the advice, or the phone calls even if the calls are long distance.
At some hot lines the advisers are volunteers. Other hot lines pay their advisers for their work. Usually the advisers are professionals, with work experience of many years. But sometimes the advisers have only taken a short class, before starting to work on the hot line. The goal of the hot line advisers is to help people who have problems. They just listen to people and give them advice. They hope they could help the people in trouble, to solve their problems.
考生们只要加油努力,就一定会有一片蓝天在等着大家。以上就是精品学习网的编辑为大家准备的2014年高中高一英语下册期末测试卷答案解析
