In less than ten days, Junior 3 students around the country will take the senior high school entrance exam. They are studying hard for this big challenge. Do they have time to do something to celebrate(庆祝) their middle school years? Many do.

Leng Jingze, 14, from Tianjin said that in her class, students are already writing goodbye messages for each other. They are also swapping (交换) photos. Even the head teacher has a project, said Leng.  "She plans to put all our class photos and the Chinese compositions(作文) we have written onto a CD and give each student one." said Leng.

Wang Zeyu, 15, in Changchun, Jilin said his classmates are using colored paper to make "lucky stars" as graduation gifts. "Before making a ‘lucky star’, you write some words for the person on the paper," said Wang.  "He or she can read the words when they unfold the star." Wang said he wanted to make one for his head teacher. "I'll write: ‘Dear teacher, you always look so serious," said Wang. "But we know you have a warm heart. Smile more!"

In Xiao Xia's school in Beijing, each Junior 3 student will get a yearbook, in which the graduating classes will put their photos and self-introductions. "We have written a poem!" said Xiao, 14. The poem records the big events of the class' history and is in the shape of the number 9.  "Nine is our class number," said Xiao, " Our class may be not the one with the best school grade but it  must be the most creative one," said Xiao. "I feel lucky to study in such a class!"

Many people say that they are working too many hours. They don't have enough time to relax or to stay with their family.

Work hours are different from one country to another. In France, people spend about 1,646 hours a year at work. In Japan, however, people work about 2,159 hours a year. That means a Japanese worker works 513 more hours a year than a French worker.

Why do people work so many hours? Some people work extra (额外的) hours because they want to make more money. However, many companies don't pay overtime. Their workers don't get more pay for more work. Some people think it's their duty to work more hours. Some are afraid of losing their jobs if they don't work more hours.

Many people say that their vacations are too short. In France, people get five weeks of paid vacation a year. In Germany, they get four to six weeks, and in the United States, two weeks. One study shows fewer than half of workers used all their vacation days. In Great Britain, there is a saying, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull (迟钝的) boy." If that is true, there must be a lot of dull people in the world.
